Why the “practice” label matters more than the numbers. Every plumbing and fitting height here is convention — no code fixes a shower head at 2,100 mm. That is a height for an average adult, and a household of 5-foot people should lower it without guilt; “but it’s the standard” has ruined more bathrooms than bad plumbers have. The figures that genuinely bind you are the NBC clear heights and room minimums your sanction drawing must clear, and the IS 456 limits your columns must respect — and those are the ones people discover late, after the slab is cast and the fix costs a floor.
